nearline digital finishing solutions
SALES HOTLINE (UK)
SIGN UP We have long taken the view that flexibility in the production line is the key issue. Good utilisation of resources is important, regardless of whether the finishing system is online or offline. If you want to make booklets offline we offer two solutions designed specifically for digital print finishing. In both cases, you take the output from the digital printer(s) and load them into the finishing system. The printed sheets are automatically gathered in the correct sequence; covers are added if required before the sheets are processed through the booklet maker to produce high quality finished booklets. document Finishing System (DFS)The Watkiss DFS is a nearline multi-function finisher for users of high speed electronic copying, printing and publishing systems. It takes pre-collated sheets directly from the printer and automatically processes them into high quality booklets. If required, additional sheets from other print sources can be inserted ;including offset printed covers on glossy or laminated stocks. You can use the DFS to feed individual sheets or complete sets. With the option of up to 8 feeders, the DFS can also be used as a standard collator/finisher so you can finish batch printed sets from digital or offset presses too. Since the DFS accepts the output of multiple printers, you maximize the use of your investment. Features:
The barcode reader module fully integrates into the control system of the Document Finishing System. It is configured through the colour touch-screen user interface. Where verifiable integrity is needed, the barcode reader provides multi-level security verification at sheet, set and document level. It can also control the insertion of covers and multiple additional sheets for customized sets. You can configure the system to interpret the barcode characters as required, and save the configurations in easy recall job memories. This means that every sheet can be guaranteed accurate; and every set or document can be customized. It extends variable data beyond the printer to the finisher; with the potential for each set or document to include a different combination of additional inserted sheets. For security verification, elements include job, document and sheet identifiers, a sheet counter and sequence check. Controls for sheet feeding and insertion include insert and specified feed and read commands. The barcode position is flexible ~ when booklet making, it can be positioned in the trim margin so that it is trimmed off the finished booklet. Alternatively, it can be positioned in the centre of the sheet, so that it is in the gutter (spine) of the finished booklet. |
