New booklet-making solution for Xerox Nuvera® EA Production Systems launched at Graph Expo

The PowerSquare 200™ booklet-making solution for the Xerox Nuvera® EA Production Systems and Xerox Nuvera® 288 Perfecting Production System are being showcased at Graph Expo ’08 in the C P Bourg booth (# 2219). The PowerSquare 200™, manufactured by Watkiss, produces square-spined stitched books up to 200 pages thick.

The innovative PowerSquare 200™ is a complete book making system that stitches, folds, forms a SquareBack spine and trims the pages to size in one pass. The maximum book thickness, of 10mm (equivalent to 200 pages 80gsm/22lb bond), is double that of alternative conventional booklet making machines, so it is ideally suited to higher paginations or to thicker stocks.

This makes the PowerSquare 200™ a fast, convenient and cost effective alternative to perfect binding or tape binding. It also provides environmental benefits, because it creates a professionally bound finish without using heat or glue.

Since it will also produce books from only a few sheets, it provides a single book making solution for documents from 8 through to 200 pages.

SquareBack™ books provide a professional finish, combining the appearance of perfect binding with the security of a stitched spine. They lie flat and are easy to pack, stack and handle. There is no risk of loose pages and you can print on the spine.

Digital print applications frequently use heavier stocks and need the flexibility to produce a wider range of finished books from a single process, with little or no operator intervention. Accordingly, the PowerSquare features automatic setting for different book size and pagination, including variable stitch leg length for varying book thickness.

A winning combination
The PowerSquare 200™ is designed and manufactured by Watkiss Automation (UK). In the USA, Canada, Mexico and Central & South America it is marketed to Xerox customers by C.P. Bourg Inc., a Xerox Business Partner, who provide nationwide sales and after-sales support. C.P.Bourg will market the product as the Bourg PowerSquare (PS200). This collaboration continues the successful partnership whereby C. P. Bourg market Watkiss’ SquareEdge booklet finisher.
